Ali Gliadon chronicles her and her husband’s home design DIY projects on the Instagram account Our House on Apple Road. Their Minnesota home is an early 1980s split-level that the couple immediately fell in love with for its location and spacious yard. The inside however was a different story.
“We knew there were going to be many late nights and weekends spent updating the interior.” With Ali handling the design elements and husband Russell spearheading the renovations, they formed a perfect DIY team. To date, they have completed a full kitchen and living room remodel, added a laundry room and according to Ali, “every inch of the home has been painted.” Which led them to their most recent project – transforming the bonus room into a playroom for their growing family.
“We first heard about Karndean floors through a friend of mine on Instagram. The floors caught my eye immediately. We already had several other samples from local stores and the minute we compared them to Karndean samples, the difference was blatantly obvious. Karndean’s floors felt incredibly durable and had quality coloring and grain composition. Not to mention, there were so many options to choose from! Ease of install and waterproof flooring were at the top of our priority list as well.”
“Karndean became our top contender because we are a young, growing family and anticipate lots of activity and shenanigans on our floors. Our new Karndean floors have hands down surpassed my expectations. They are so durable, easy to clean, and so very pretty on the eyes.”
In addition to new flooring, the pair installed new square edge baseboards, changed paint colors from purple to an earthy sage green, built a closet, and installed new windows to brighten up the space.
“We want to really ‘live’ in our home and Karndean LVT gives us the look, feel and ability to do just that. It’s easy to clean, hasn’t scratched in the slightest, and I anticipate will hold up beautifully for many years to come!”
